Ms MOXIE Project Introduces the world's first Survival Beauty Box
Newport Beach, California - The owners and head stylists from Salon 359 are using humor to help themselves and their followers through a sad and confusing time.
As the nation shuts down from the Coronavirus Pandemic and states are issuing #stayhome orders, salons all over the country are having to shut their doors. Hannah Olivieri and Rita Miles Baglietto are no exception. Watching their revenue source end was hard enough, but having their clients message them in a panic about their beauty needs made it that much worse.
Both women have been in the beauty industry for decades, so they understand the frustration, panic, and overwhelming sadness that their co-workers and clients are feeling. Both women are also doers, so they put their heads together and came up with a way to channel their "humor as a defense" mechanisms and to pivot their dying business. What they created is the Survival Beauty Box.
The box is not just about what's inside, although that's a well-cultivated cache of DIY beauty supplies, but it's about the thought and humor they put into each piece. Every item in the box has a reason and a story, most of them hilarious.
Hannah and Rita realize that most people today are scared and everyone is a little sad. Creating this box is a way to let all of those people know that we are ALL scared and sad, which means we are ALL in this together. It's a way to turn a hard-hit industry into a positive revenue stream and to help a woman-owned small business through tough times.
If those reasons were not enough, the box creators are donating 10% of each box's proceeds to No Kid Hungry, an organization helping schools and other community groups feed food insecure families.
